Those hoping to go for a Sunday stroll alongside the Pétrusse river were in for a bit of a surprise, as the water levels were unusually high. The normally placid stream through the capital had increased in size, even causing stormy waters as far as the Alzette valley.
The rushing waters provided a preview of how the Pétrusse could look once the river has undergone a restoration - a project which is set to be launched in the near future.
The Pétrusse riverbed will be enlarged in the Grund in a first phase which will reach as far as the Adolphe Bridge.
This will form the main site for the LUDA garden exhibition, otherwise known as the Luxembourg Urban Garden.
It is expected to open in spring 2023 (video in Luxembourgish).
