The federation talks about a dramatic incident of environmental pollution. FLPS' ecological section thus demands that all official findings and analyses be published and that consequences be drawn to prevent future contaminations. Furthermore, the federation wants that fishermen who pay an expensive lease for the river be compensated for the damages.
Although the Attert originates in Belgium, the river spans over a total of 38 kilometres, mostly across Luxembourgish territory to eventually flow into the Alzette.
On Tuesday, the Chamber is set to discuss the pollution of the river. MP Gusty Graas (DP) has already announced that he will address the problem during the open "question time". Minister for the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development Carole Dischbourg is thus expected to inform the Chamber about the most recent developments in the investigation conducted by the water management office and the environment agency.
