Emergency services responded to a significant fire in Lutzhausen on Saturday evening after a blaze erupted on the roof of the town’s former sports hall. The building, which contains a climbing wall and serves as a storage depot for the local municipality, was swiftly surrounded by firefighters as the fire spread.
As the RTL camera crew arrived at the scene, additional fire crews from across the region joined the operation to help bring the blaze under control. In total, firefighters from eleven emergency centres – Alebesch, Boulaide, Clervaux, Grevels, Grosbous, Ingeldorf, Mersch, Rambrouch, Reda,ge, Vichten, and Wiltz – were deployed. According to a statement from the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) on Sunday morning, no one was injured in the incident.
Residents from across the region sent in snapshots documenting the scale of the fire, including some from Insenborn. In Kaundorf, people reported that smoke from the fire was drifting across the entire village.
Elsewhere, emergency services were called to Remich at around 8.15pm, where a person was injured in a collision.
Shortly before 7.30pm, a motorcyclist was injured in a fall in Goeblange.
