On Tuesday, the ‘“Astronomischen Arbeitskreis Salzkammergut / Sternwarte Gahberg” confirmed that it was indeed a fireball.

A fireball is technically a larger shooting star. Depending on the size of the material that burns up in the atmosphere, the remains can sometimes reach the earth as a meteorite.

Two videos recorded from dashcams have been uploaded to the website of the International Meteor Organization.
