The European Centre for Statistics (Eurostat) has released its latest data on air-passenger numbers for 2024 and 2025, indicating an 8.3% rise across the bloc to 1.1 billion travellers, and an over 7% increase for the Grand Duchy.

Last December, Findel surpassed 5 million passengers for the first time, and the trend looks set to continue, with third-quarter figures showing over 3.98 million passengers ahead of what is expected to be a busy festive travel period.
With more than 1.5 million passengers in each of the previous two quarters, Findel appears on course to exceed 5.5 million passengers for the first time – more than 1 million travellers above pre-pandemic levels of 4.4 million in 2019.
The anticipated record figures come at a time when the airport has faced increased pressure over the effectiveness of its recently refurbished runway.
