Bad news for those hoping to catch the train to the capital for this year’s Schueberfouer - engineering works will be taking place on the railway between Ettelbruck and Gouvy from 19 August to 10 September.

Transport minister François Bausch confirmed the news in response to a parliamentary question posed by northern DP MP André Bauler.

The engineering works will replace the tracks, renew the gravel and also secure rock faces alongside the railway as a preventative measure. The construction was planned to last around two years. It was decided to conduct the work during the summer when there are fewer passengers on board the trains, due to the scale of the works.
