78th anniversaryEnd of World War II commemorated at 'Golden Lady' on Monday

RTL Today
Monday marks 78 years since Nazi Germany capitulated and the Second World War came to an end, an occasion that will be commemorated at the Monument of Remembrance in Luxembourg City.

During the night of 9 May 1945, General Keitel, then-head of the German Wehrmacht, signed the capitulation agreement with officials of the Red Army in Berlin. For that reason, 9 May also marks victory day in Russia to this day.

A ceremony will be held at the Monument of Remembrance, also known as the ‘Golden Lady’, at lunchtime on Monday. Prime Minister Xavier Bettel will be present at the event.
