Shortly after the 2023 legislative elections, Emile Eicher announced that he would not complete his term as alderman or MP, and has now set a date for his resignation from the Clervaux council.

Emile Eicher, the Christian Social People’s Party (CSV) politician and President of the Association of Cities and Municipalities (Syvicol), has confirmed that he will resign from his position as alderman of Clervaux effective 1 July.

In a brief email, the municipality of Clervaux confirmed that the municipal council had unanimously nominated CSV councilor Jules Clément as the new alderman at its 1 June meeting.

In April, Emile Eicher revealed to RTL that he would continue serving as a local councillor so that he could continue serving as President of Syvicol. He also reiterated that he does not intend to complete his current parliamentary term, although he has not yet indicated when he will resign as a Member of Parliament.
