A fire truck collided with a responding ambulance on the runway at Findel Airport during a medical emergency call on Saturday afternoon. No injuries were reported in the incident, according to the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS).
The collision occurred when an external ambulance – required because the airport’s Fire and Rescue Centre (CIS) lacks its own medical transport – was being escorted onto the runway by a CIS fire vehicle. The ambulance driver reportedly braked suddenly, causing contact with the accompanying fire engine.
Despite the collision, the medical intervention proceeded without delay. A CGDIS spokesperson confirmed the fire engine sustained no damage, while the ambulance is currently being repaired.
The emergency response had been initiated after a passenger aboard a landed aircraft required urgent medical attention.
