Alzette polluted since Saturday morningEmergency response underway as cause remains unknown
Since Saturday morning, the Alzette river has been affected by pollution, prompting a response from emergency teams. The fire brigade received an alert at 9.30am, mobilising efforts to address the issue.
While the pollution originated at the sewage treatment plant in Schifflange, officials from the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) clarified to our colleagues at RTL.lu that the plant itself is not the source of the contamination.

The exact cause of the pollution is still undetermined, and in response, the fire brigade has strategically placed dams along the river. The Water Management Authority is also present at the site.
