Emergency services were called to the scene at around 3.40pm on Monday, after a car and a minibus collided on the CR126 between Waldhof and Stafelter. The driver of the car, an 88-year-old woman, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The rescue teams from Junglinster and Luxembourg City, as well as two emergency medical units (SAMU), responded to the accident. The minibus driver was also injured and received treatment from paramedics. In order to establish the circumstances of the crash, a forensic police unit was deployed to the site. The road remains closed until further notice.

Several other road accidents occurred on Monday. Shortly before 11am, two cars collided on the A3 motorway between the Berchem service area and Livange, but no injuries were reported. Just over four hours later, another accident involving two vehicles took place on the same stretch of road; this time, two people sustained injuries. On both occasions, emergency services from Bettembourg and Roeser attended the scene.

Shortly before 5pm, emergency services from Luxembourg City and Hesperange were called to another incident on the CR226 between Itzig and Contern, where one person was injured in a single-car accident.
