
The DP overtook the CSV in Junglinster and can now claim the mayoral office. Ben Ries (DP) won the most votes, thereby beating Raphaël Schmitz (CSV). MP Gilles Baum (DP) received the third-most votes.
Echternach also saw a power change unfold on Sunday evening. The DP gained 11% to become the strongest party. MP Carole Hartmann is now poised to take over as mayor.
The CSV remains the strongest party in Grevenmacher, which means that incumbent Mayor and MP Léon Gloden has won his reelection bid.
The LSAP dominated the vote in Mertert, meaning Jérôme Laurent will stay mayor of the eastern town.
Status quo was also the message of the night in Remich. Mayor Jacques Sitz (DP) will thus retain the top job.
In Wormeldange, the citizens’ list led by Max Hengel came out on top of the vote.
The citizens’ list headed by Stéphanie Weydert meanwhile scored the best result in the Rosport-Mompach election.
The DP Mayor Steve Reckel clearly dominated the vote in Mondorf-les-Bains with an increase of 500 votes from the 2017 election.
