During a large-scale traffic check carried out on Tuesday on the A3 near the Berchem service area, police identified 43 violations of the highway code. The majority involved misuse of the carpool lane, with 23 drivers fined for using it without meeting the required conditions.
Officers also found technical defects in four vehicles, including issues with tyres and exhaust systems, while two drivers had restricted visibility. Three motorists were driving without proper vehicle documents, and two had problems with their licence plates.
In addition, four drivers were reported for dangerous driving, one for failing to keep the emergency lane clear, and two for using a mobile phone while driving. Two motorcyclists were also fined because their helmets did not meet safety regulations.
Separately, during traffic checks on Thursday focusing on soft mobility, police recorded several e-scooter violations. In four cases, scooters had been tampered with to exceed the legal speed limit, while three others lacked proper lighting. Officers also stopped two people riding on the same scooter.
Police further reported multiple incidents of drink-driving. On Thursday evening in Crauthem, an intoxicated driver was stopped on Rue de Hellange. After testing positive for alcohol, he was issued a provisional driving ban. According to police, the individual behaved uncooperatively and was later taken into custody following a medical check.
That same evening, on Rue Michel Weber in Ettelbruck, a drunk driver crashed into a parked car and fled the scene. He was quickly located by a police patrol, tested positive for alcohol, and had his driving licence confiscated.
