The municipality of Dudelange said in a press release on Monday that an incident at the local swimming pool last week led to the closure of the facility. According to the statement, part of a lighting installation fell. No one was injured, as no one was standing beneath it at the time. The town’s safety officer inspected the site on the same day and ordered checks of the pool’s other facilities.

On Thursday, an independent inspection body determined that a screw had come loose due to the humid and chlorine-rich environment, causing part of the installation to fall.

The swimming pool cannot currently reopen under normal safety conditions, the municipality said, adding that the situation is being monitored and reassessed daily. School classes and clubs affected by the closure have been informed. A reopening date of the swimming pool is expected to be announced soon.
