An accident was reported to the police at around 3.45 am on Friday on rue de Reims in Luxembourg City’s central station district. A driver had crashed his car into 5 other vehicles that were parked on the side of the road, also damaging a terrace. He then sped off in the direction of Avenue de la Gare in his badly damaged car.

A police patrol found the getaway car shortly afterwards, but he then drove away at full speed. After following the car for some time and issuing several requests to stop, the driver was finally brought to a halt. In the meantime, he had hit two additional parked cars, injuring one person who was taken to hospital.

Once halted, the driver was extremely aggressive and uncooperative towards the officers, threatening them and attempting to injure himself several times.

Both alcohol and drug tests were positive, so blood and urine tests were also requested. The driver’s licence was immediately confiscated, whereupon it came out that the driver had already lost his licence several times. The man also had a bag of marijuana with him, which was seized. He was arrested and charges were brought against him.
