According to RTL sources, the driver lost control of the vehicle and drove into a hedge. The car eventually came to a stop on the slip road. The driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital by emergency medical services.
One lane was temporarily closed to allow clean-up operations. Due to slippery road conditions, the process took longer than expected. However, by around 8am, the accident site had been cleared and traffic resumed, ACL confirmed.
