At the Luxembourg City Court, the young man who had caused the accident on the road between Bissen and Roost in which the Luxembourg musician Petz Hartert had lost his life, was found guilty.
The driver, who was 23 years old at the time, was travelling at too high a speed and without a valid driving licence.
He was sentenced Wednesday at first instance to 48 months in prison, 42 of which were suspended and a 30-month firm driving ban, as well as 30 months during which he can only drive to and from work.
The sentence ended up being so severe because in addition to causing the death of Hartert, the man had repeatedly broken traffic rules before and after the accident, notably by driving without a licence.
