The accident took place at the crossroads between the CR347 and the N14, known locally as the “Bloen Eck”, shortly after midday. Reports say a driver travelling from Folkendange towards Stegen ignored right of way at the junction and struck a motorcyclist travelling towards Diekirch.
The motorcyclist was taken to hospital via Air Rescue helicopter after suffering serious injuries. The road was closed to traffic, causing diversions in the area.
The driver failed to stop at the scene of the crash and fled, but was later spotted by the police helicopter in an Ettelbruck car park, where she was arrested by orders of the public prosecutor’s office. She will face a judge on 1 July.
