A traffic jam caught the attention of police in Wasserbillig around 3.45pm. The cause was a van parked on the side of the road whose trailer blocked traffic. The driver was found to be fast asleep behind the wheel, most likely due to inebriation.
As the man refused an alcohol test, the patrol called their German colleagues for assistance, who quickly discovered the man had a driving ban in Germany. The van was seized and a report taken.
A few more drivers were found to be over the limit during the night, in Vichten, Esch-sur-Alzette, Steinsel, Mersch and Angelsberg. Four driving licenses were revoked, while two cases resulted in a report without a loss of license.
Around 9.20pm, a young man had a necklace stolen in the Gare quarter. He was attacked from behind and tried to defend himself, in vain.
The perpetrator and three further individuals fled. An investigation is ongoing.
