The first accident occurred on Boulevard de Kockelscheuer in Luxembourg City at 10.15pm. The driver lost control over his car while driving toward the city centre, and collided with the crash barrier at the intersection with Route de Bettembourg. The driver was injured and taken to hospital. Since his alcohol test came back positive, his license was revoked.

Shortly before midnight, a second accident took place in Rue du Château in Pettingen. A drink driver failed to make a turn and crashed right through a fence, only to come to a stop after about 50 metres. Though he did not suffer any injuries, his car was heavily damaged in the process. The subsequent alcohol test and positive result were followed up by a provisional driving ban.

Police were then alerted to a van on the A4 motorway, direction Esch-sur-Alzette, which collided with the crash barrier several times and came to a halt near Pontpierre. When officers arrived, they found the driver uninjured, but asleep behind the wheel. He was brought to the hospital for a check-up.

Though an alcohol test could not be performed, officers found several empty cans of alcoholic beverages in the vehicle, as well as a joint. The subsequent drug test came back positive. Police then learned from French authorities that the man also lacked a valid driving license and thus slapped him with a fine.

In Route de Colmar in Bissen, a drink driver was stopped by the police around 12.40am after displaying reckless driving behaviour. His license was revoked.
