The police were busy overnight on Saturday, responding to a string of incidents including a burglary, thefts, and an altercation with an intoxicated driver.

Luxembourg police responded to several incidents on Saturday night, including a burglary in Bonnevoie, a theft in Pfaffenthal, and a shoplifting case in Mersch.

Shortly before 2am, intruders targeted an apartment building in Bonnevoie. Police apprehended two individuals carrying torches and searching for valuables. One suspect managed to escape by jumping from a balcony, while the other was arrested. A police officer sustained minor injuries during the intervention.

In the Pfaffenthal neighbourhood of Luxembourg City, two individuals were arrested after snatching a necklace from a victim. Following a brief search, officers located the suspects. Further investigation revealed they had also stolen a mobile phone from another individual earlier. Both were arrested on orders from the public prosecutor’s office, and the stolen items were returned to their owners.

Police in Mersch arrested two people after they were caught stealing from a grocery store in Merscherberg. The suspects attempted to flee but were quickly tracked down by officers.

On the same night, Luxembourg City police intervened when a heavily intoxicated individual attempted to drive from a car park on Rue Fort Neipperg. Officers noticed the person struggling to walk straight while trying to pay for a parking ticket. When the individual entered their car and prepared to drive away, the police stepped in.

After a discussion, the person agreed to leave the vehicle parked. However, as officers began to depart, the individual began hurling insults at them. Upon being confronted, the person grew increasingly aggressive, leading to what police described as a “scuffle”. During the altercation, the intoxicated individual struck one officer. They were subsequently restrained and taken to a doctor for evaluation due to their condition.

Later, at the police station, the person remained uncooperative and was fined for insulting public officials.

Shortly afterward, police returned to the same street after receiving reports of an aggressive individual at a nearby nightclub. Upon arrival, officers instructed the disruptive person to leave the premises, but they repeatedly returned.

While monitoring the situation, police observed a physical altercation break out. After separating the two involved parties, officers recognised one as the same individual from the earlier disturbance. Both were detained following a medical check-up.
