WiltzDrink-driver apprehended after making death threats against police officers

RTL Today
On Thursday evening, a car was stopped in Wiltz for speeding past a police patrol.

The car, occupied by three individuals, was stopped and checked. While the passengers remained calm, the driver was not so composed. Despite multiple attempts to convince him to undergo a breathalyzer test, the driver was either unable or not willing to cooperate.

While the officers were still dealing with him, the driver suddenly decided he had had enough - he got behind the wheel and wanted to drive away. When the police officers stopped him, subjected to severe verbal abuse and threats of violence and murder. The driver also resorted to physical aggression, repeatedly pushing one of the police officers. However, with the arrival of additional support, the irate driver was eventually subdued and restrained.

During the subsequent journey to the police station, the inebriated man displayed no signs of calming down. Upon arrival, the tumultuous behaviour persisted, characterised by incessant shouting, insults, and further threats. Consequently, the officers made the decision to apprehend and confine the individual in a cell overnight.

In light of the driver’s intoxication, his driving license was revoked, and a temporary driving ban was imposed. Formal charges were filed against him, including rebellion against police officers, threats, insults, and damage to the police vehicle. One of the police officers sustained minor injuries during the course of the operation.
