
The draft law was a joint effort between the Christian Social People’s Party (CSV), the Democratic Party (DP), the Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party (LSAP), and the Greens. The legal document is hoped to bring clarity to potential investigations of former ministers.
Following the involvement of former Minister for the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development Carole Dieschbourg in the ‘Garden shed’ affair, it became evident that there was no adequate way of addressing questions of responsibility.
Constitutional expert Luc Heuschling from the University of Luxembourg confirmed this notion, which is why a new draft law has now been filed.
