The president of the CHEM, CSV deputy mayor Georges Mischo of Esch-sur-Alzette and the administrative board confirmed the unanimous nomination of Dr. René Metz as the new director general of the Centre Hospitalier Emil Metz. He is expected to start his new position on 1 February 2021.
Daniel Cardao will remain as interim director until then, a position he had taken over after the resignation of Hansjörg Reimer. The latter was highly controversial among staff, doctors especially. There was talk of "dysfunction" at the hospital.
Dr. René Metz completed his many years of studies at the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL), the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois in Lausanne, among others. He has been at the neurological department of the CHL since 1998.
"I am honoured by the trust the administrative board has put in me. I am full of pride and enthusiasm to take on the challenges of this new mission I've been given," said Dr. René Metz in the official communication.
