The Ministry of Energy confirmed on Thursday that the price of diesel would drop by 5.3 cents on Friday.
A litre of diesel now costs €2.021. This amounts to a €2.65 difference on a 50-litre fill-up.
The price of heating oil will also decrease by 5.3 cents, bringing the litre price down to €1.445 on Friday.
One litre of diesel for commercial and industrial use now costs €1.584. For agricultural and horticultural use, the price will be €1.488 per litre.
In other good news, MPs unanimously agreed on Thursday to reduce the price of heating oil by 15 cents per litre on October 31.
