The shock accident occurred in the night of Saturday to Sunday on the A1 near Flaxweiler. As the motorcyclist attempted to overtake a lorry, he was struck by another vehicle and knocked into oncoming traffic on the opposite lane.

Interior Minister Taina Bofferding offered her condolences to the family and friends of the victim, saying that Bob Wagner will be remembered by all as a dedicated alderman and committed, professional firefighter.

In addition to being alderman of Weiler-la-Tour, the 31-year-old young man was both a professional and volunteer firefighter in his town.

On Sunday, Paul Schroeder, director general of the CGDIS, had expressed his deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Bob Wagner.

The municipality added in a statement: “Bob Wagner, torn from life at such a young age, will be remembered as a person whose contribution and work will continue to inspire respect.”
