A suspicious vehicle caught the attention of the police at around 3 a.m. in the street of Lallange in Esch-sur-Alzette.
Upon trying to stop the car, officers were for ed to give chase after the driver fled at full speed through the city.
After ignoring several red lights and navigating the Raemerich roundabout the wrong way, the driver suddenly pulled a last minute 180 turn and rammed a police car. As the officers got out of their vehicle to apprehend the fugitive he hammered down full throttle, narrowly missing a police officer.
The driver continued to flee at high speeds towards the A4 motorway, heading towards Luxembourg City on the wrong side of the motorway.
The police were finally able to intercept and immobilize the man and his passenger with the use of a tactical roadblock.
Apparently under the influence of both drink and drugs, the driver resisted arrest but was nonetheless taken to the station and was charged on Sunday morning.
A further two other drunk drivers were nabbed on Sunday in Rodange and Esch-sur-Alzette, both of whom had their licences suspended.
