At 10.40am on Thursday, a driver struggled to regain control of his car in the “Op Herbett” industrial zone in Schifflange. For unknown reasons, the motorist lost control of the vehicle while attempting to park, accelerating across the car park and crashing into a number of stationary vehicles, as well as knocking down a pedestrian.

The latter was given first aid at the scene and later taken to hospital with minor injuries.

In addition to damaging nine vehicles and two electric charging stations, the motorist pushed another vehicle 10 metres across the car park and finally came to a standstill after crashing into a shopping trolley shelter. Remarkably, the driver was left without a scratch. Police have recorded the incident.

On Tuesday evening, a person was attacked by two young men near a supermarket in North Bonnevoie-Verlorenkost. The two suspects approached their victim on Rue des Gaulois at around 7.40pm, asking for money. When the victim declined, the suspects strangled him from behind and knocked him to the ground. The attackers then took the man’s mobile phone, cash and wristwatch, as well as a necklace and his sweater.

Police launched a search following the incident, which failed to yield results. A complaint has been filed and an investigation is underway.
