In response to a parliamentary question by MP Francine Closener, Meisch said the measures which came into force on 30 November may well continue into the new term in January.
The situation will be assessed during the holidays, the minister added, as if the situation does not change then the current sanitary measures will remain in place. Meisch said they would take into account the possibility of an increase in cases among young people after the holidays, as this could impact the return to school.
The minister explained it was highly likely that measures such as wearing a mask unless sat at a desk, or alternate weeks of distance learning would be maintained for the start of the January term.
