Luxembourg's annual folk tradition of burning winter began Saturday evening in several towns, with stunning images building anticipation for what is yet to come on Sunday.
The longstanding Luxembourg tradition of Buergbrennen mostly takes place on Sunday, but some towns across the Grand Duchy kicked off their celebrations on Saturday evening.
Large wooden pyres, often shaped like castles or crosses, were thus set ablaze in numerous municipalities, leaving us to marvel at the stunning images in anticipation of what is yet to come on Sunday evening.
As every year, the event promises to be a major community gathering, offering traditional Luxembourgish food paired with mulled wine or local beer.
