The Ministry of Health reports that infections have remained high following the Carnival holidays last month, with an 11.1% increase in coronavirus cases over the past week. Flu infections are up by 20,2%.

COVID-19

From 6-12 March, the number of people testing positive for Covid-19 rose by 11.1% to 1,784, compared to 1,606 cases the previous week. 54.6% of these cases represent a reinfection.

Last week, 19 people were hospitalised with Covid, compared to 16 the week before. One person is currently in intensive care. The average age among patients is 65.

In the week of 6-12 March, one death was recorded as a result of coronavirus.

There are currently 474,981 people in Luxembourg who are fully vaccinated, corresponding to 79% of the population aged 5 and over.

INFLUENZA

From 6 to 12 March, the number of flu cases recorded in Luxembourg rose from 318 to 387, some 20.2% higher than the previous week. The type B influenza virus remains dominant.
