
A tragic story, but also an accident that could have occurred to anyone: This is how the public prosecutor's office described what had happened in July 2018, when a driver hit a pedestrian between Bettembourg and Dudelange in the middle of the night, an incident which ultimately led to the death of the latter.
On Thursday, the woman was acquitted by the court. The judges argued that the woman was not guilty of having caused the accident. At the time, she was neither intoxicated, nor speeding or distracted.
There were no lights on that part of the national road and the victim allegedly suffered from mental issues. There was simply no way the woman could have spotted the man early enough to react.
