The Chamber of Deputies will debate two petitions on Wednesday morning, one on making Luxembourgish the language of integration and one on the right to carry self-defence tools.
Everyone who lives or works in Luxembourg should be required to learn Luxembourgish, the petition proposes.

The first petition calls for Luxembourgish to be strengthened and recognised as the language of integration for everyone living or working in the Grand Duchy.

It also demands mandatory Luxembourgish learning for all residents and employees. The petition gathered more than 8,200 signatures, well above the 5,500 needed.

Under parliamentary rules, a petition with at least 5,500 signatures automatically gets a public debate.

Carrying pepper spray or blank-firing pistols

A second petition has also reached the threshold. Its signatories want the weapons law reformed so that adults with clean criminal records can legally carry pepper spray and other non-lethal self-defence tools.

The petition specifically suggests allowing pepper spray and blank-firing pistols, and its author points to Germany’s "small weapons permit" as a model. So far, 5,557 people have signed, and 15 days remain for further support.
