InterviewCoherent measures are critical at this stage: Romain Wolff

RTL Today
The president of the Civil Service Union (CGFP) sat down for an interview with RTL Radio on Tuesday morning.

Wolff commented on the current restrictions put into place by the government, such as increased home office for employees and remote learning for students. He emphasised the importance of creating a coherent set of rules, so that people recognise the purpose of the measures and follow them. Wolff believes that especially in the domain of remote work, a significant number of legal and administrative barriers are still in place that need rectification.

When asked about the draft law allowing for a privatisation of government departments, Wolff stated that he still had not received official confirmation that the project was off the table. He thus believes the issue needs to be discussed with the highest authority possible, namely Prime Minister Xavier Bettel himself. Wolff described his relationship with the Minister for the Civil Service Marc Hansen as "not bad, but with room for improvement".

The CGFP president acknowledged that while the pandemic was continuing to affect all spheres of our lives, government employees should not consider pay rises as essential. Nevertheless, he emphasised that it remained in the government's best interest to maintain a functioning administration.
