The Association for the Support of Immigrant Workers (ASTI) expressed reservations about the coalition agreement between the Christian Social People's Party (CSV) and the Democratic Party (DP), noting that it appears to place more emphasis on economic matters than impact on individuals.

In terms of immigration, the coalition agreement is “questionable” in many respects, “astonishing” in others, and “generally unambitious,” according to ASTI.

The agreement reflects a stricter policy approach, aligning with the European immigration pact, which includes stricter controls at the EU’s external borders, ASTI noted.

ASTI lamented that economic aspects take precedence over the human element in the agreement. Notably, the immigration chapter is criticised for its “almost exclusive” emphasis on asylum matters, delving primarily into technical aspects, according to ASTI’s assessment.

Addressing intercultural coexistence, ASTI characterised the coalition agreement as “really unambitious.” The association hopes that the government will refrain from stigmatising foreigners and refugees, cautioning against trends observed elsewhere in Europe.
