In a statement issued on Wednesday evening the college said it was rather surprised by the joint letter from the LSAP, the Left and the Greens. The letter was said to be controversial and neither addressed the critical situation in Bonnevoie nor would the three parties propose solutions.

LSAP, the Greens and the Left had accused the DP and the CSV in the City of acting illegally by allowing private security firms on the streets.

The City Council stressed once again that the private security company would not be there to replace the police, but cooperate with them. Police forces and not identified any negative incidents regarding these private agents. They further stated that the impatience to see conclusions from the inter-ministerial working group on security around the station district would not be helpful.

The City Council has invited Minister for Internal Security Henri Kox to the next citizens' meeting.
