The Centre Hospitalier Emile Mayrisch (CHEM) has introduced the "myCHEM" mobile app, allowing patients to schedule appointments for MRIs, scans, and mammograms starting from Wednesday, 7 June.

During a press conference on Monday morning, the CHEM unveiled the app as a solution to streamline the appointment booking process, reducing the current reliance on phone calls, which can reach up to 880 daily with waiting times of up to 30 minutes in some cases.

The app allows patients to select their desired body area for imaging and choose a convenient date and time for their appointment. Alternatively, users can upload their prescription, and they will be contacted to arrange a suitable time. The app is available in five languages (Luxembourgish, German, French, English, and Portuguese). The app does not store data internally but rather acts as an interface. In addition, it allows users to book appointments on behalf of someone else.

During the presentation, CHEM management provided insights into the current waiting times for various examinations. The waiting periods vary depending on the specific organ involved. As of April, the waiting time for a heart MRI was approximately 22 days, while it reached 52 days for a head MRI. Mammograms had a waiting time of two months for screening purposes and four months for diagnostic evaluations. For scans, the waiting period was less than one month.

Although efforts have been made to reduce waiting times, the demand for services has surged over the past year, hindering the desired progress. However, this does not include emergencies, which are seen within 12 hours or three days depending on the type of accident. Hospitalised patients also receive expedited service, with scans typically scheduled within one day and MRIs within two days.
