Health commissionChamber debates new Covid bill on Monday

RTL Today
Most discussions around the bill, which is set to be in place until 14 March, were caused by disagreements on the topic of education.

The meeting of the Health commission lasted for two hours. MP Claude Wiseler (CSV) criticised the bill for lacking precise wording: "We want to know who is made responsible for what happens in our schools, and how the hiring process of new staff members is being regulated. With the way the bill is written at the moment, we have more questions than answers."

The conservative party wanted to fully fall back on the A-B group model starting Monday, and not only apply it in higher classes. Furthermore, CSV wanted to see an amendment in the domain of school transportation, which they still miss in the new bill.

Health commission president Mars Di Bartolomeo (LSAP) emphasised after the meeting that a number of pertinent questions still needed to be resolved and that MPs wanted answers from Minister of Education Claude Meisch: "What about additional infrastructures? What about smaller groups? Who is responsible in the end? What about the lack of physical education for children below the age of 13?"

Apart from issues in the domain of education, MPs were also concerned about data protection in relation to the vaccination campaign.
