The CFL plans to progressively increase its fleet with 34 new Coradia Stream High Capacity railcars, starting in the first semester of 2024. The goal, aside from replacing outdated material, is to increase seated passenger capacity, currently 38.751, by 46% by 2026.
In a written statement, CFL CEO Marc Wengler thanked passengers for the continued use of their services: “We welcome this new attendance record with humility and responsibility, and warmly thank our customers for their trust and loyalty throughout the year.”
Wengler further noted that the momentum reinforces their ambition to constantly improve service quality and to making trains the “means of transport capable of meeting the challenges of sustainable development and decarbonisation of individual transports.”
The CEO concluded the statement by expressing gratitude to the close to 5,000 employees of the national railway company, labelling the upward trend a “wonderful recognition of their work, for which we would like to thank them warmly”.
