The Luxembourg National Railway Company (CFL) released its planned construction timetable for 2026 on Monday morning.

The schedule accounts for ongoing infrastructure projects, following a year in which work occurred on 254 out of 365 days. This year’s works, which include laying nearly 30 kilometres of new track, will be concentrated primarily during school holidays and on weekends. During all service interruptions, the CFL will provide replacement bus services to ensure passengers can reach their destinations.

A key completion target for 2026 is the southern Luxembourg City transport hub. Once finished, the section between the Howald junction and Luxembourg City station will offer four tracks instead of two for passengers travelling towards Esch-sur-Alzette and Thionville.

Major preparations are also scheduled for Bettembourg station over the summer to connect the new Luxembourg City-Bettembourg line, a project designed to relieve congestion on that part of the network.

In Ettelbruck, where significant progress has already been made, work in 2026 will focus on completing platforms II and III as well as the pedestrian underpass.
