The airline declared that the illness was not related to Covid-19.
The crew took the decision to land in Gander, a town in Newfoundland, Canada, in order to have him hospitalised.
The aircraft continued its flight on Sunday morning and is expected to arrive in Luxembourg Sunday evening at 5.15pm.
