A car chase unfolded in southern Luxembourg around midday on Monday, culminating in a police intervention in Pontpierre. While authorities have remained tight-lipped about the details, eyewitness accounts and video footage sent to our colleagues from RTL.lu on Monday shed some light on the incident.

The chase ended on Rue de Mondercange, where unmarked police vehicles stopped a car near a bus stop. According to witnesses, the car was travelling at high speed–reportedly exceeding 100 km/h–on Route de Luxembourg, having come from the Leudelange area. During the intervention, several parked cars were damaged.

Eyewitnesses also reported that at least two individuals were in the stopped vehicle. One person attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by police in a nearby resident’s garden.

When contacted for comment, the police referred enquiries to the public prosecutor’s office, citing an ongoing criminal investigation. The prosecutor’s office confirmed in a written statement that the incident was a police intervention, without, however, providing further details.

On Tuesday morning, our colleagues from RTL.lu sent follow-up questions to the public prosecutor’s office to at least determine whether any arrests were made.
