A Bettembourg resident caught two burglars in the act upon returning to his property on Rue de Nord on Tuesday. A man and a woman were in the process of smashing the terrace door when the homeowner came across them, at which point the couple fled via Rue de Luxembourg.
Their escape attempt was quickly foiled by police, who caught the couple as they were fleeing the scene.
One of the suspects told officers they were still a minor; however, this was quickly disproved by a clinical analysis.
The public prosecutor’s office issued an arrest warrant for the two would-be burglars. Both suspects were brought before an investigating judge on Wednesday.
