Series of break-insBurglar arrested in Strassen on Wednesday

Police reported the arrest of a suspected burglar after the latter was caught in the basement of an apartment block in Strassen.

The suspect was found on Rue Mathias Saur on Wednesday morning after illegally gaining entry to a block of flats. Officers searched the man, finding a number of stolen valuables concealed on his person, leading to his arrest. The public prosecutor ordered he be brought before magistrates and later taken to Schrassig prison.

Further burglaries took place on Route d’Arlon in Strassen on Wednesday, after thieves broke a window and gained access to a number of basements within a residential building.

A property on Rue de Strasbourg in Luxembourg City was also targeted, after burglars broke open a door and stole valuable items. The police report said that the door and lock had both been heavily damaged as part of the break-in.

At 10pm on Wednesday night, a thief attempted to gain access to a home on Val des Romains, Bridel, but fled the scene after being caught by residents at the property. Police mounted a search action as the suspect fled by car in the direction of Kopstal, but the search was unsuccessful.

Other incidents were reported on Tuesday, with further break-ins on Rue de Mamer, Bertrange. Two properties were targeted between 6pm and 11pm, with thieves taking valuables from each residence. Police have not been able to locate the suspects as of yet.

Insurance services have been informed in all cases.
