During the meeting, Jean-Paul Schaaf, the new mayor of Ettelbruck, was welcomed as the latest addition to the group. He will take over the role of former Schieren mayor André Schmit.
The Syvicol board then focused on budgetary issues, addressing a recent governmental note which conveyed that municipalities were to receive around €75 million less in 2021.
Syvicol President Emile Eicher advocates for adapted subsidies for individual municipalities and better support for investments into essential infrastructure, such as water purification plants. He further emphasises that overall spending in school IT departments has increased as well: "We want to avoid discrepancies between municipalities in terms of the school equipment and opportunity that can be provided."
