From 11 to 13 JuneBuchler Bridge in Luxembourg City closed to traffic
The municipality of Luxembourg City announced that the Buchler Bridge will be closed over the weekend. On 13 June, major construction works are also set to start around Place de France.
As part of the redevelopment of the Jean-Pierre Buchler Bridge, final asphalt works will be undertaken at the junction of Route de Thionville with Rue de Hollerich from Saturday 11 June 2022 (6am) to Monday 13 June 2022 (5am).
During these works, the Buchler Bridge will be closed between Place de la Gare and the “west” access and exit roads of Pénétrante Sud.
The access ramps from Route de Thionville to Rocade de Bonnevoie will remain accessible for traffic coming from Howald. The exit ramps from Pénétrante Sud from the Gluck roundabout and from Luxembourg City to Route de Thionville towards Howald will also remain accessible.
For public transport, the following changes will apply to the AVL lines:
- Line 7: In both directions, the Wallis and Gare Centrale stops will be removed. Replacement stops: Gare-Rocade platform 1 (towards Kirchberg, Poutty Stein) and Gare-Rocade platform 2 (towards Bonnevoie, Baden-Powell).
- Line 28: all stops will be served in both directions, but the line will be diverted between Central Station and Howald / Cloche d’Or. Extended travel times are to be expected.
- Line 29: the line will be diverted via the Bonnevoie bypass. In the direction of Luxembourg Airport and Senningerberg-Charlys Statioun, the Central Station stop on platform 1 will be removed. Replacement stops: Gare-Rocade platform 1 and Al Avenue platform.
Construction site around Place de France
The municipality also announced that in the context of the infrastructure works on Route de Longwy, Place de France, as well as on Rue Wurth-Paquet and Rue Astrid, the traffic will be adapted as follows from 13 June 2022 (6am) to 28 July 2022 (12am):
- Rue Wurth-Paquet and Rue Astrid will be closed to traffic between Place de France and the building located at 1, Rue Wurth-Paquet.
