Officers from the Esch-sur-Alzette and Luxembourg City's Gare district police stations handled a series of fights on Wednesday evening, including incidents on a bus, in a public square in
Esch-sur-Alzette and outside a bar near the station. One of those involved was carrying a saw.
The first fight broke out on a bus in the Neudorf district of Esch-sur-Alzette. A patrol responded and arrested one of the people involved, who was administered first aid at the scene before being taken to the emergency room for further examination. Early indications suggest the altercation began among several intoxicated individuals. Two others suspected of involvement were arrested soon afterwards, and the investigation is ongoing.
The same evening, a fight involving several men was reported near Place am Boltgen in Esch-sur-Alzette, with one of the men carrying a saw. Several patrols went straight to the scene and apprehended the armed man. The saw was confiscated and a report was filed.
Around midnight, police were alerted to an altercation between several people outside a bar on Rue Joseph Junck, in the Gare district of Luxembourg City. A visibly intoxicated man was crossing the street repeatedly, and a patrol found him heavily inebriated. Given his condition and the danger he posed to himself and others, he was taken into custody following a medical examination.
During a routine identity check on Grand-Rue in Luxembourg City on Wednesday afternoon, officers discovered that a European arrest warrant had been issued for the man they were checking. He was arrested on the orders of the public prosecutor's office and brought before an examining magistrate.
