Some areas of the country experienced frozen roads as early as Tuesday evening, while traffic conditions remained challenging on Wednesday morning.
Wednesday started with freezing fog and will end in the same way, with temperatures ranging from -4°C in the south to -6°C in the north in the early morning. Meteolux warns of the possibility of “light snowfall” throughout the day.
Meteolux has issued a yellow alert for the northern part of the country for this Thursday between 15:00 and 21:00. Snow accumulation may reach up to 1-2 cm above 300 meters, with the potential for more, as a “snow cover of 4 cm may form in some parts of the country.”
The Grand Duchy currently finds itself within a low-pressure area stretching from the Baltic Sea to the Adriatic Sea. This also brings cold air from Scandinavia, so the weather is expected to be wintry in the coming days. Temperatures are not expected to rise above 2 or 3°C during the day.
Light snowfall and rain are anticipated on Thursday throughout the day. However, per the latest forecasts, Friday is expected to be the coldest day. Daytime temperatures will linger in wintry conditions, ranging between 0 and 2°C, and may drop to -4°C in the evening.
