The news was announced at the steel conglomerate's New Year reception, in which ArcelorMittal looked back on a difficult year.
The announcement comes after Monday's signing of the tripartite agreement, which will cut 536 jobs but also engages ArcelorMittal to invest between 165 and 205 million euros in Luxembourg by 2050. The pilot project in Rodange is set to start operating in 2023.
The Luxembourgish sites are also set to become greener, with a planned CO2 emissions reduction of 30% by 2030.
