In a press release published on Tuesday, the government confirmed that Prime Minister Xavier Bettel called both the Prime Minister of Belgium, Alexander de Croo, as well as the Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, to discuss the current state of the pandemic and particularly any potential effects on the situation at the countries’ borders.

Bettel intends to continue these calls on a regular basis in order to assess the state of the crisis and coordinate national strategies.

The exchange occurred in anticipation of the upcoming EU Summit on Thursday. The coronavirus crisis is expected to be the main topic of discussion once again.
